[edit] History
After the revolution in 1921 in Mongolia, on November 21, 1925 the government founded the Chandmani Uulyn Aimag (Чандмань уулын аймаґ, Province of Mount Chandman) a governmental division of the country. The province included today's Uvs, Khovd and Bayan-Olgii Aimags. The name remained till 1931 and changed its name to Dörvödyn Aimag (Дөрбөдын аймаґ, Province of Dorbods). However, once again the name of the province changed and adopted its current name Uvs in 1933. When the name was changed to Dörvödyn Aimag in 1931 Uvs and Khovd were separated and became 2 different provinces.
In 1931 Ms. B.Natsag was appointed as the governor of province, who was the first ever female governor in history of the province.
