This is a photograph of a the endings of a UTP ethernet cable. It shows very clearly the eight pin modular jack which connects the cable to the computer, switch or wall socket.

Inside the modular jack, the endings of the orange and blue wire pars are clearly visible.

The cable shown is unusual in that it only has the minimum two pairs which are needed to make basic ethernet functions work.
