[edit] Featured portals
Portal:Texas is the first state featured portal, so I'm slowly working on getting the Utah one up to similar quality by working on several things:
- Using Template:Random portal component to have rotating content for the selected picture. This is already done, though more images can be added, as long as they are good quality or unique in some way.
- Using Template:Random portal component to have rotating content for the selected article. I have started to populate the article page, and will add more to balance the large amount of geology- and nature-related articles (that happened to be featured).
- Texas has sections for biographies and cities. I'm not sure we have enough good Utah city articles to justify having a separate section - I'll have to take a look. I haven't started to look into a biography section yet either.
- Trimming the government and attraction sections from the portal. These subjects are better handled elsewhere - probably just need some links to pertinent articles.
-
- update: These are trimmed now - added some attractions to Template:Utah and made Government of Utah from the government section. — Zaui (talk) 23:22, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- If anyone knows of a way to have the anniversaries automatically update, I think that would be a neat feature.
- Adding a List of Utah... section
Other suggestions are welcome. — Zaui (talk) 17:29, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Panoramic images
The panoramic images "kill" the columns display. They need to be reduced to stay where they are or put them in a 100% width section somewhere. :-) Rfrisbietalk 19:18, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- This should be fixed now, but I can't check since I couldn't reproduce the problem with my browser - I sized them down to 450px. — Zaui (talk) 18:00, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- They have to be no wider than 300px at 800X600 display size for the column widths you have chosen. I made the changes. This really isn't a browser issue, it's a pixel width for low resolution displays issue. I would think your computer has a "display" control panel somewhere to set different screen resolutions. [edit] Lists section format
It seems the lists section wording is a bit redundant. References to the title (e.g., "List" and "Utah") usually are omitted. The items also are not in a consistent order, e.g., alphabetical. I made some proposed changes for your consideration. Rfrisbietalk 21:18, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
