USS Sentry (MCM-3), an Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship, is the second U.S. Navy ship of that name.
Sentry was laid down on 8 October 1984 by the Peterson Builders Inc., Sturgeon Bay, Wisc.; launched on 20 September 1986; and commissioned on 2 September 1989.

Sentry was the 1998 COMNAVSURFLANT Battle Efficiency Award winner for her class and was awarded the 1998 COMNAVSURFLANT Safety Award.
Sentry is part of Mine Countermeasures Squadron 2, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Her homeport is Naval Station Ingleside, Texas.
She is currently designated a reserve ship, and is only at full crew-member capacity when Selected Reservists are on board.
