USS Miantonomah

Two ships in the United States Navy have been named USS Miantonomah for a leader of the Narragansett tribe, and nephew of the noted Narrangansett chief, Canonicus.

  • The first USS Miantonomah (CMc-5) was commissioned in 1941 and sunk by enemy action in September of 1944.
  • The second USS Miantonomah (ACM-13) was commissioned in 1950 and decommissioned in 1955.
