Google finds 4 different sources for Multi-Vector Attack Separation [1], none for Assault. Gzornenplatz 21:40, Jul 12, 2004 (UTC)

According to the Star Trek: The Magazine article in the June 1999 issue, officially it is called Multi-vector Assault Separation. Additionally, Yahoo! finds 10 plus sites quoting the same. Also, the magazine is official so it can be taken as such. cbing01 12 July 2004

[edit] Registry & page title

The Prometheus cannot be shown on Wikipedia under the title USS Prometheus (NX-59650). This is simply because the vessel was shown onscreen two have two registries: the more realistic 74913 (on LCARS readouts) and the more visible 59650 on the vessel's hull. One is not wrong and the other right, and as such we cannot say one is right by using it above the other in the title. If you wish to go for this title form then the page must be called "USS Prometheus (NX-59650/NX-74913)."

That being said, I am at a loss to understand why this and other ship pages such as Voyager's have been retitled using their registries. Aside from the double redirects this has created with the Prometheus links, they will be searched for and known as "Ship Name from Star Trek." The overwhelming majority of people will have little knowledge as to their registry numbers and the inclusion of them in the titles I feel, is overly complex and needless in most cases.

Also as seen specifically in this instance, many pages detailed more than one ship. USS Prometheus (Star Trek) also included information on the Nebula class vessel of the same name, which can now be found at USS Prometheus (NCC-71201). The trouble is, it's a stub, and will likely stay a stub for evermore because the vessel was never detailed like its successor and doesn't look like being the star of the show any time soon. So why are these pages being moved like this? I can see no such consensus for the idea and with the obvious exceptions of vessels like the Enterprises where there is detailed information on nearly all of them so seperate articles are needed, I don't see the need to split articles such as this. - Hayter 12:50, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

The reigistry visible on the ship is incorrect because the design team got it mixed up. The real registry has been proven to be on the plaque. Don't think that just because it is more visible that it is the real one. It is not canon because it was not created directly by Paramount whereas the inetrnal registry was created by Paramount. I know why the registries conflict in real life, but that doesn't change the fact that the end product - the episode - shows two different registries. It's irrelevant who made what and why it's that way. As far as canon is concerned, the registry of the USS Prometheus is in conflict. Nothing has been "proven" and it is not up to us to decide which is best. If it were, 59650 would have been ditched long ago because it makes considerably less sense than a registry above 70000. - Hayter 14:07, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
As far as i'm concerned, what Michael Okuda says goes, so his would be the one i'd use. Pr1983 06:52. 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merge

Again I see no reason to merge so I again oppose this merge. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 23:48, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

The content of the two articles is nearly identical in coverage. This is a very good reason to merge. See WT:TREK Morwen - Talk 00:11, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
