Usmanu Danfodio University was formerly known as University of Sokoto and was established in 1975. The university is located in Sokoto. The population of the student stands at approximately 16,000 and there are two site namely permanent site and temporary site.

The university is well known for its lslamic link and students find ways to have a social life on campus through clubs such as kegites.
