[edit] History
In Early 2002, Ezequiel Deregibus (Guitar and Vocals) and Juan Manuel Bordón (Bass), former members of the Argentine Emo-Pop band known as The Angry Surfers, decided to start a new project. The same night they came up with the idea, they invited Lucas Canosa (Guitar) and Oscar Castro (Drums) to join the band. After two practices they decided to call the band "Ushuaia Rocks!", as a tribute to the 80s Glam Rock band Hanoi Rocks, and to the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia. During the rest of 2002 they kept practicing and recorded the first lo-fi record of the band, "Es la idea" ("Is the idea"), issued in February, 2003. That same year, Ushuaia Rocks! played a series of shows in the city of San Miguel, that gathered a rather small but stable fans basis. Later on was released the EP "Un Frío Infierno" ("A cold hell") In 2004 the band played also a few shows in the city of Buenos Aires. 2005 was a very difficult year to Ushuaia Rocks!. Playing was rather difficult due to the Cro-Magnon tragedy and the band almost break up due to tensions between Ezequiel Deregibus and Lucas Canosa. By early 2006 the band started to play very often with a small change in the line-up: Ezequiel Deregibus left the guitar and now he just sings. Rumors are being said that the band will record a new album later on this year.
