Template talk:User en-ca-n

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I created a "CaE-4" template for people (such as myself) who are not originally from Canada and aren't technically "native" speakers of Canadian English, but who have become proficient enough to pass for native.

When I immigrated to Canada (Kitchener, Ontario) in 1992, I made a concerted effort to "lose" my "Yankee drawl". Eventually, I found I was routinely mistaken for a born-and-bred local. Some of my co-workers, who didn't know me extremely well and weren't aware I was a transplanted Yank, expressed frank amazement or even disbelief upon discovering I was originally from California.

I've been back in the States since 1997, but I never could manage to reacquire my native accent. Go check out some samples of my voice and let me know what you think.
