The USCGC Istasca was a United States Coast Guard vessel launched on 16 November 1929 and commissioned 12 July 1930. The ship was decommissioned in 1941 on lend lease to the United Kingdom and was returned to the United States in 1946. The ship was finally sold for scrap in 1950.
Itasca is most famous for watching over Amelia Earhart when she made her trip around the world. Istasca attempted to keep in radio contact with her, however, they couldn't manage as she changed the channels frequently.
