This rivalry has heated up recently with the improvement of the American squad. The border between the two countries has been recently referenced as the "2-0 Line" by Tino Palace, a mlsnet.com contributor, due to a recent slew of 2-0 victories by the Americans, including a September 3, 2005 game that sent the Americans to the 2006 World Cup. The history between the two squads has been, until recently, heavily in favor of the Mexican squad.
