Uropi

Uropi is an international constructed language created by the French linguist Joël Landais in 1986. The name Uropi comes from the name of the continent - Europe. The language consists of approximately 10,000 words.

Uropi makes use of 23 letters of the Latin alphabet and one of the International Phonetic Alphabet. The pronunciations are the same as in the IPA, except that "c" represents the phoneme ʃ.

[edit] Nouns

Each noun has one of two genders and inflects for case, either nominative or genitive, and number, either singular or plural. There are three declensions for the noun: those which end with a consonant, those which end with "a", and those which end with any vowel other than "a".

Pronuns inflect for the nominative, accusative, and dative cases.

Verbs may have one of three moods: the indicative, imperative, and conditional.

  • Je ve so anlezi po ma lero Japoni. (It will be difficult for me to learn Japanese)
