Uri, what is the source of all of the pictures you're uploading? Please tell me they're all copyright free? -- Zoe
Hey Uri, great to see other wikipedians from israel here! Excellent job with the pictures! ;) If you have time, check out these obvious palestinian-biased articles, let's make them a little more NPOV, here's a partial list:
- Apartheid
- Jenin
- Jenin massacre
- Israel and related pages.
- Terrorism against Arabs
- Palestine
- Palestinian territories
- And much more..

I'm a little concerned about the pictures you're uploading, I'm pretty sure I've seen some of them before, in books with copyright warnings glued all over. A photograph of an old sculpture is still copyrighted by the photographer, and we need to know where the picture comes from in order to assure ourselves that the photographer is OK with its use in wikipedia. If we can't assure that, then the pictures will have to be deleted. Stan 22:03 Apr 15, 2003 (UTC)
Note that I don't *want* to delete any pictures. If you've collected the picture from an online source, at the very least include the URL where you got it - should be a simple cut-n-paste into the image page. That leaves a breadcrumb for others to follow later should the need arise. After all, you have the location information right there on your screen, why keep it secret?? Stan 22:26 Apr 15, 2003 (UTC)
Hi Uri, I'll reply here for what you wrote in my personal talk page.
I think you misunderstood the meaning of "Neutral point of view", when I wrote "let's make them a little more NPOV" I did not assume you belong to the political right (By describing yourself as an anarachist, I actually assumed you're left). The thing is that we, as Israelis have much better evaluation of the factual and historical accuracy of these articles, so we can separate fact from fiction, much better than a writer from let's say, Paraguay.
Some sentences may not simply be correct, like, "The state of Israel was never recognized in the International community" Is misleading fallacy. Or "Jewish people came to Israel in order to kill and deport arabs", again misses the point. As an anarchist, you should fight Propaganda like this.
A good NPOV aritcle, will give the Palestinian arguments, and then the Israeli arguments, and let the reader decide for themselves. In the NPOV article there's also a section called "Write for your enemy"! you can write about Ariel Sharon as someone you highly disagree with, but still stick to factual information and arguments (Instead of misleading propaganda). That's the beauty of wikipedia, and that why I like writing here, It's like the next step from the traditional biased encyclopedias (Open some Israeli encyclopedia, on Ariel Sharon, compare to wikipedia and you'll understand what I'm talking about..)
You can also write about Israeli/Palestinian peace organizations (Thre's an article about this somewhere...) like Gush Shalom or others.. -- Rotem Dan 10:05 Apr 16, 2003 (UTC)
Hey Uri,
Just wanted to drop in and say I'm happy to see there actually are other Israeli Wikipedians (the typical Israeli you see on the street and the concept of Wikipedia just don't seem to mix in my mind...). Furthermore, it looks like you're from Haifa too. Neat! AceMyth 07:12, 22 Nov 2003 (UTC)
Uri,
I am also happy (like AceMyth) to meet an Israeli here. I also noticed that you did not contribute after Aug 2003. Hope you are OK and would like to suggest you will consider joining the Hebrew Wikipedia. I think that our Hebrew project is a very successful one, and would it would be great if you'll be able to give us a hand and participate in this pioneer work. ^^ Dod1 02:17, 28 Feb 2004 (UTC)
That image now works for me - maybe you have to Wikipedia:Clear your cache if it still doesn't display for you. andy 13:26, 18 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Uri: I'm a bit concerned about the copyright status of Fredy Perlman; it looks like it's copied almost exactly verbatim from http://www.spunk.org/library/writers/perlman/sp001730.html . There's no notice there that the article is in the public domain, so I therefore would assume it's copyrighted. Do you know anything about the copyright status of that text, or if permission has been granted for its use under the GFDL? -- Seth Ilys 21:48, 11 May 2004 (UTC)
- Ah, great! That's basically what I assumed from poking around the site, but I couldn't find any explicit references. Thanks. -- Seth Ilys 20:14, 15 May 2004 (UTC)
Hi Uri, would you mind documenting the sources you're using for the images you've uploaded? While the originals of 17th century portraits are long out of copyright, reproductions may not be. We've recently been contacted by the UK National Portrait Gallery asking about how we obtained a couple images that they have in their collection, including Image:Shakespeare.jpg which you uploaded last year.
Because there's been a lot of abuse by people uploading unattributed files and checking the "I affirm that the copyright holder of this file agrees to license it under the terms of the Wikipedia copyright" box without it being true, it's very likely that unattributed images will all be removed at some point, so please be sure to document your sources. --Brion 09:08, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
What is the source of the pictures of roman emperors? And are the under the GFDL? --de:RobertLechner
[edit] Your uploaded image
Thanks for uploading Image:Aristotle.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know whether it's released under the GFDL, whether fair use is claimed, or what? Thanks, – Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 18:38, Oct 1, 2004 (UTC)
What Quadell said, but about Image:Arafat.jpg. -- Solitude 08:45, Oct 13, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] The wittgenstein image
Hi Uri, I've had a request about copyright for this, but it was originally posted by you. Would you like to check it out Image:Wittgenstein2.jpg. Thanks Chris Jefferies 13:12, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Michel-foucault.jpg
Hi there! Thanks for uploading this image. I noticed it didn't have a copyright tag, and since you say it's uncopyrighted, I added {{PD}}. Please double check and correct my addition if necessary. Thanks! --David Iberri | Talk 21:50, Dec 9, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Unverified images
Hi! Thanks for uploading the following image:
- Image:Dewey.jpg
I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GNU Free Documentation License, {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know at my talk page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much. [[User:Poccil|Peter O. (Talk, automation script)]] 03:58, Dec 11, 2004 (UTC)
P.S. You can help tag other images at User:Yann/Untagged_Images. Thanks again.

[edit] Karl Marx
Would it be possible to send me a hi-res version of the image you uploaded of Karl Marx? I am doing picture research for a history textbook and yours' is by far the clearest portrait I've found of Marx. And it's public domain, too!
Thanks, David (d1g1talpropaganda@yahoo.co.uk)
[edit] Picture Concerns
To all the people who've been harassing me about picture sources: I really can't be bothered to follow all this up. All the piccies I uploaded are from websites where there was no copyright notice, and to be honest I think we should be stretching the grey areas here as far as possible - i.e. not do anything until someone actually complains, or until copyright and the propertarian social relations underpinning it are abolished.
In the mean time I'm taking myself off the Wikipedia project for a while, so: if you don't like anything I seem to be responsible for, just delete it. Your loss. Uri
- Your total lack of concern for laws is very troubling, especially since it is Wikipedia you are endangering by your careless attitudes and not yourself. You may want to abolish copyrights, but they have to be followed, not just because it's the law, but because they are there for very good reasons. The lack of copyright notices on websites that you took them from doesn't mean that there are no copyrights on them, just that you took them from places that were equally lax on following the laws concerning copyright as you are. Personally if you have such a dangerous attitude about such things and refuse to follow the rules, you should consider taking off Wikipedia permanently. DreamGuy 03:51, Mar 21, 2005 (UTC)

- How sad - clearly I didn't expect all Wikipedians to have more appreciation for the subversive moment of their project, but such a "Yes Masser" attitude is really beyond belief . Yes, I do have a total lack of concern for laws (except when the threat of sanction forces me to comply with them). I am not endangering anyone - just press delete whenever your propertarian programming summons the cop in your head. And no - there are absolutely no good reasons for copyright laws to exist. Since I have little intention of returning here, I see the matter as closed. Uri

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Marcus aurelius.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Marcus aurelius.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. KonstableSock 07:02, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
