Upass (South Korea)

Upass is a pre-paid card for transportation system in Seoul and its suburbs. This card is issued by Seoul Metropolitan Bus Operater Association and eB Card. Its parent-generation card is Seoul Transportation Card, a world-first commercial-used RF card for transportation (first used in June, 1996)¹. You can use old Seoul Transportation Card and T-money along with Upass.

Upass, and older Seoul transportation card system is based on MIFARE Standard, Ultralight and PROX technology.

Many kiosk around Seoul and Wonju sells various type of Upass cards. Also, many debit/credit cards such as KB Free Pass can be worked as Upass-compatible transport card. Ask your card company about this function. Upass is accepted by:
- All Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Incheon, Wonju buses
- All Gyeonggi-do intercity buses. These buses are marked with yellow and orange 'Transportaion Card Accept' sticker. Note that Gyeoggi-do intercity buses often run between other areas.

eB Card sells eB Upass at this time. You can use old eB T-money and eB Upass same as original Upass, and T-money.
