UNYA

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

United Nations Youth Associations (UNYAs) are community organisations that aim to facilitate education and participation by young people in global politics, development and affairs and promote the United Nations Charter.

Typically, UNYAs are incorporated elements of broader United Nations Associations. UNYAs are also typically incorporated into, or participate in, the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) [1] or WFUNA-Youth.

UNYAs may also be incorporated into aspects of the United Nations itself. For example, numerous governments send Youth Representatives to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, or the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. UNYAs generally also actively campaign within states on issues of youth participation and empowerment.

UNYAs will also generally be involved in the organising or participating in Model United Nations events.
