Unterhaching is a municipality in the district of Munich district in Bavaria in Germany. It has an outdoor swimming pool which is visited by many people in summer. Its football team SpVgg Unterhaching were formerly in the premiere league for a short time.

It's twin cities are: Bischofshofen /Salzburg (Austria), Le Vésinet (France), Witney (England), Adeje (Teneriffe/Spain) and Zywiec (Poland).

The fact that the settlement of the Hachinger of valley can be seen on the basis grave back from at least 1100 v. Chr. is a proven fact. Between fifth and this respective century the Bavarian trunk was formed, here occupied by an altbajuwarisches row grave field.

Unterhaching was to begin the 20th Century purely a farming village. Only with the binding at the course and post office net did the transformation began to the Wohngemeinde. The number of inhabitants exploded from 616 inhabitants in 1900 to 20,545 in 2000.

In 1955 Unterhaching split itself off the local part of Ottobrunn and became an independent municipality. In 1968 the building of two new large housing estates began, of which are Grünau and Fasanenparks, which finally changed the character of Unterhachings into a modern housing development.

Unterhaching is especially known in Germany for its soccer team SpVgg Unterhaching, which played in the First Division (Bundesliga) during the 1999/2000 and 2000/2001 seasons. In 2001 SpVgg Unterhaching won the DFB indoor soccer cup (DFB Hallenpokal).

The Unterhaching SpVgg also has a very successful bob-sledding department, with multiple world and European champions. The Olympic winner Christoph Langen starts with Unterhaching.

The Volley Ball department is just as successful TSV Unterhaching and played for six years in German Bundesliga (first division).

Unterhaching is the seat of Develey, a manufacturer of mustards and other fine foods, in addition to being the seat of the German administration of chewing gum manufacturer Wrigley. The company Anton Schrobenhauser became one of the largest building contractors in Munich and the surrounding areas.

At the beginning of 2004 was the start for the drilling work in Unterhaching for a Geothermal power and heat generating device - at present the largest geothermal drilling in Germany. The plant is to produce 3.1 MW of electricity and 16 MW of heat.
