[edit] Overview
Inspired by love of noise and love of melody, Unter Null had a noisy beginning. The first CD titled "Unter Null" was self-released in the year 2000, limited to very few copies. With this somewhat official release, Unter Null started gaining more popularity, and the track "Tender Mercies" was released on the Information Apocalypse compilation in 2002 on Annihilvs Records.
A year later, 2003, the album "Neocide" was released in MP3 format on the Annihlvs.org website. Word of the solo-female noise project had started to spread, and Erica made a guest appearance with Navicon Torture Technologies at the Rhode Island Noise Festival in 2003.
Around this time, much more experimentation in sound was brought into the studio, more melody was added, and Unter Null started to take a different direction. The first track released since "Neocide" was "The Clock is Ticking", which appeared on the FUCK compilation (HIVE records) with a remix by Terrorfakt.
Not much later, the now-club-hit "Sick Fuck" was written, and began getting club-play in Seattle.
Shaun Frandsen of Glis passed on the news to Alfa Matrix, and the real history begins:
In 2004 Unter Null was signed to Alfa Matrix, and "Your Nightmare" was released on the Alfa Matrix compilation "Re:Connected [1.0]". After several more compilation appearances, the "Sick Fuck" EP was finally released in 2005 on Alfa Matrix, with remixes from C-Drone-Defect, Manufactura, Implant, Tamtrum, and Grendel. The release of this EP unleashed a brutal assault on dancefloors across the world, and Unter Null made the first European appearance at the Summer Darkness festival in Holland in the summer of 2005.
Winter of 2005 saw the full-length release of "The Failure Epiphany" on Alfa Matrix. The album quickly became the top seller on Alfa Matrix, as well as reaching 2 on the DAC charts.
In the spring of 2006, Unter Null started a European tour and Erica moved to Italy.
This year also brought Marco Visconti of XP8 into the forces of Unter Null as the official live keyboardist.
October 28th marks the date of the last show Marco Visconti has played with Unter Null as the official live keyboard player. He has left the lineup to focus on his new role in Grendel and to continue work with his main band, XP8.
