Unsigned Iowa State Highways
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In Iowa, there are a handful of state highways that are maintained by the state, but do not display any state highway signs. If marked at all, these unsigned highways are bannered highways -- for example, Iowa 922 is signed as Business U.S. Route 151. Maps published by the Iowa Department of Transportation show the unsigned highways with their number as if they were marked.
These highways are segments of old Iowa highways or U.S. Highways that were abandoned after the original route designations were moved onto new or different roadways.
