Unreachable outcry (Japanese: 届かない叫び, - Todokanai sakebi) is episode 128 of the anime series Naruto. The episode's storyline is from the Sasuke Retrieval manga arc.

Naruto finally catches up with Sasuke at the Valley of the End, which is marked by a high waterfall flanked by giant statues of the two ninjas who founded the Village Hidden in the Leaves. Naruto screams at Sasuke saying that "Are you just going to leave me!" Sasuke faces Naruto, and has apparently partially released his curse-seal. Naruto flashes back on Sakura’s tears when she begs him, crying, to bring Sasuke back. Sasuke tells Naruto not to interfere with him. Naruto flashes back on his time with Team 7 when they were first picked for teams and he was partnered up to Sasuke and protesting that why an idiot like him is together with Naruto, Naruto tied to a tree stump and offered Sasuke's lunch, Sasuke asking him for help because Naruto had asked Sakura for help, them both reaching the top of a tree, Sasuke sacrificing himself for Naruto when Naruto gets attacked by Haku's needles, Sasuke activating cursed seal during Gaara's attack and telling him to save Sakura, saying that he never wants to see an important person to him die again.

Naruto yells at Sasuke, who is on the other side of the waterfall, asking him why he became this way. Sasuke asks Naruto why it matters to him. Sasuke declares that he has the right to be whoever he wants, and no one can tell him what to do. He says that he will no longer be a part of the Hidden Leaf, and tells Naruto to go home. Naruto flashes back on the mission, and how the team sacrificed so much just to get him to this point. He says as much to Sasuke, who is unimpressed and starts walking away.

Naruto, outraged by such disrespect for his comrades, tackles Sasuke and punches him. Sasuke coolly dismisses his time with Konoha and Team 7, saying he hasn’t gotten any stronger because of it. Naruto remembers Choji fighting Jirobo, Neji telling them to go on, Kiba fighting Sakon so they have more time, Shikamaru tricking Tayuya, Rock Lee telling him to go on that he had promised Sakura to get Sasuke back, Shikamaru saying: "I don't have a deep attachment to Sasuke. Nor is he someone that I like. But he is one of Konoha village's shinobi, a comrade. That is why we risk our lives to save him. This is the Konoha view."

Naruto jumps onto Sasuke and punches him across the face but Sasuke just spits some of his blood, which is coming out of his mouth, at him. Sasuke declares that he is going to Orochimaru to get stronger. Naruto, even more outraged by this, says that Orochimaru was the one who killed the Third Hokage and tried to crush the Hidden Leaf Village. He is certainly not going to give power for free; he just wants Sasuke’s body as a container, and a temporary one at that. Sasuke says that as long as he’s able to accomplish his goal of killing Itachi, whatever Orochimaru wants with his body is fine with him.

Naruto insists that he won’t let Sasuke go so easily, that he’ll take him back by force, if necessary. Sasuke just laughs that odd laugh of his, and refers back to his fight with Naruto on the roof of Konoha Hospital. When Naruto laughed his odd laugh when they were about to fight. Naruto says that Sasuke was different back then, and that isn’t how he wants to fight. Sasuke forces Naruto back and off of him, regains his feet and, gripping Naruto’s shirt, picks him up with one hand. Then he punches Naruto in the stomach, sending him flying out over the waterfall along with some blood coming out of his mouth. Sasuke marvels at his new power, but feels the pain of the curse-seal, so he backs it down to its’ un-released state.

Naruto is also impressed by Sasuke’s power, thinking about how different he is and is sinking fast. He flashes back to the hospital fight during the taijutsu standoff, and recovers enough to water-walk on the surface. He charges Sasuke telling him to open his damn eyes, who kicks him in the head and also deprives Naruto of his weapons pouch along with more blood out of his mouth. He tells Naruto that his dream lies in the past, not the future, and flashes back to his childhood. It was when Itachi was still Sasuke's brother and Itachi was practicing weapon throwing. Sasuke watches Itachi and thinks it's amazing and when Itachi has to go on a mission Sasuke gets angry because his brother was going to teach him a new shuriken throwing move. Sasuke falls and Itachi picks him up and gives him a piggy-back ride back home.

Naruto attacks Sasuke again with a shuriken throw, but Sasuke fends him off and sends some of his own kunais which kills a Naruto clone, then uses his Manipulating Windmill Triple Blades attack [SEE: Sasuke's fight with Orochimaru in Episode 30] to trap Naruto against a rock. Finally, he uses the Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu, apparently incinerating his former comrade.
