Unmanned Surface Vehicles

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) refers to any boat type vechicle that operates on the surface of the water without a crew. USVs have been tested since World War II but have been largly overshadowed. This is due to the fact the USVs such as the OWL Mk II surviellance drone have been classified as at UUV. More recently success of UAVs in the Afghan war may lead way for a new wave of USV type vehicles.
