The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) is one of the UAE’s oldest and most prestigious universities. Established in 1993, it was the first Australian university in Dubai to be licensed by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research. The University is located at Dubai Knowledge Village an educational precinct a short distance from the heart of the city. More than 2,500 students from approximately 80 different countries are currently enrolled at UOWD.

The ability for UOWD students to acquire their degree, upon course completion from the main campus, University of Wollongong is attracting several students every academic year to enjoy high-quality education in the Middle East region. UOWD also offers students the opportunity to transfer their credits to the Australian campus based on counselling from academic advisors and professors.

Off-campus housing (UOWD Residences) is available for students, through the Student Services department and is located less than 25 kilometers from the campus and is closeby to the Ibn Battuta Mall. The surrounding residential area is relatively upscale, and is known as 'The Gardens'. Students who are staying at the UOWD Residences are automatically elligble to utilize UOWD's shuttle service (bus transport), which travels to and from the UOWD campus several times every day.
