The University of Sydney Faculty of Medicine [1], the first Medical school in Australia, currently offers a Graduate Medical Program (GMP) that results in the award MBBS. Entry into the program requires sufficient performance in an undergraduate degree, a written test know as the GAMSAT, and a structured interview. The graduate program is 4 years long. Previously the degree was an undergraduate degree that vacillated from being 5 years - 6 years. The GMP focuses on "problem based learning" (PBL) ostensibly to equip the medical student to enter practice with the ability to acquire and keep up with medical progress. This is coupled with a focus on Evidence Based Medicine ostensibly so that new medical innovation can be evaluated.
