The University of Sharjah is a semi-govermental higher educational institution. It's founder, Supreme President and Chairman is the Ruler of Sharjah Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al-Qasimi himself. Founded 1997, the University of Sharjah aims to meet the Emirate of Sharjah’s educational and cultural needs within its Islamic values and tradition. It's vision is to become a leading academic institution in the Middle East and be well recognized around the world.

The University of Sharjah is located on the southern edge of Sharjah and is fifteen kilometres away from the center of the city.The community college provides its services through five branches located in different geographic areas in the Emirate of Sharjah

The University of Sharjah aims to fulfill its obligations and responsibilities towards its students; add to human knowledge and scientific research; meet the needs of society; and enhance higher education in the country in coordination with other institutions of higher learning.
