Located in the employment-rich Thames Valley region, just 25 minutes from London, University of Reading Business School is situated at the heart of the UK’s international business centre.
The Business School comprises five internationally-renowned departments; Economics, Informatics, Management, Real Estate & Planning and the ICMA Centre (for financial markets).
One of only eight UK business schools to receive a 5 rating for international excellence in both of the last two Research Assessment Exercises (RAE), Reading is home to world-leading research groups and a vibrant research culture.
University of Reading Business School offers an exciting range of underdraduate and postgraduate programmes, taught by internationally-renowned experts and experienced practitioners. The School's teaching was rated as ‘very good’ in the latest Teaching Quality Assessment (TQA), and recent student satisfaction surveys have consistently placed Reading as one of the top five business schools in the UK.

Established in 1964, the Department of Economics has earned a global reputation through its work in the field of international business.
Its programmes focus on 3 broad areas; banking and finance, international business and international development. They encourage a critical appreciation of theoretical economic issues and allow students to apply their knowledge to real-world situations.
The department's research expertise lies in finance, industrial and international economics, macroeconomics, quantitative economics, and urban and regional economics.

The highly successful Department of Management was formed in 2001.
Its generic 12-month programmes provide a broad foundation in Management for students with a non-business related degree.
Specialist 9-month and 12-month programmes are aimed at students with a degree in a business-related subject, looking to enhance their knowledge and gain professional skills relevant to a specific area of Accounting, Management or Consulting.
Recent research has focused on a variety of areas including, international business strategies, entry into foreign markets, outsourcing of production, organisational cultures, international accounting differences, and the history of multinational enterprises.
[edit] The Department of Real Estate & Planning
The Department of Real Estate & Planning was established in 1968 and is the largest department in the UK for teaching and research in real estate.
It offers a comprehensive range of programmes, all of which are accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Planning courses are also fully accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute.
The department has strong connections with the property and planning communities and its staff play a leading role in the research activities of professional UK institutions involved with land, property and planning, including the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Investment Property Forum and the Royal Town Planning Institute.

The ICMA Centre , University of Reading has an international reputation for providing quality undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programmes tailored to the capital markets industry. The ICMA Centre’s success is based not only on the integration of applied finance theory and industry specific training but also its considerable professional and academic expertise, and strong links with companies and trade associations in the global finance industry.
Established in 1991 with funding provided by the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) in Zurich, the Centre is housed in a purpose-built modernist building with state-of-the-art facilities including two dealing rooms using software similar to those found in major investment banks.
To date the ICMA Centre has 2,000 graduates from 81 countries.
[edit] The Informatics Research Centre
IRC , within the University of Reading, provides a centre of gravity for interdisciplinary and collaborative research, and knowledge transfer in Informatics. The centre benefits from input of knowledge and expertise from various subject fields from Biology, Biodiversity, Business Management and Economics, Health Informatics, Computer Science, Cognitive Science and Systems Engineering across a number of Schools and beyond.
