University of Portsmouth Sailing Club

The University of Portsmouth Sailing Club, or UPSC, is a sailing club of the University of Portsmouth, in Portsmouth, United Kingdom.

The club is based in Portsmouth in the South of England. It is one of the clubs part of the University of Portsmouth's Athletics Union part of the University of Portsmouth Students Union UPSU. UPSC is separate from UPOSC University of Portsmouth Offshore Sailing Club.
UPSC sails larks in Portsmouth and Langstone harbours, and is often referred to as the dinghy club to distinguish between the two university sailing clubs, although this is incorrect, as UPSC sails Dinghies, Yachts and Keelboats, and have an active powerboating, windsurfing and kitesurfing membership
The club accepts students with of any sailing ability. The club supports beginners and has a large number of members who instruct, as well as current an ex national squad racers. UPSC has achieved very reasonable success in team racing and fleet racing. Most recently, their race captain was part of the winning team at the Laser SB3 Nationals - a fantastic achievement in a tough class.
The Club meets for weekly gatherings on a Tuesday night in Portsmouth Sailing Club and has regular pubcrawls, barbecues, and parties where the members get to know one another better, and further their drinking as well as their sailing ability.
