University of Kansas School of Law

The University of Kansas School of Law is a first-tier public law school located in Lawrence, Kansas. The School of Law at KU was founded in 1893, replacing the earlier Department of Law, which had existed since 1878.[1] The school has more than 30 full time professors and more than 500 students. The school is accredited by the American Bar Association and a member of the Association of American Law Schools. U.S. News & World Report ranks the University of Kansas School of Law as a top-tier school and rates them as a "best buy".[2]

The first-year curriculum includes Contracts, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Constitutional Law and Property. In addition, students take a legal writing class designed to teach legal research and writing in a context that emphasizes professionalism and practical skills. All first-year students have one of their classes in a small section of around 15 students providing an informal learning atmosphere.
