University of Hawaii-West Oahu

The University of Hawaiʻi-West Oʻahu, formerly West Oʻahu College, is one of ten branches of the University of Hawaiʻi system anchored by the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. The University of Hawaiʻi-West Oʻahu is a public, co-educational university located in Pearl City, Hawaiʻi in the United States and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It opened in January 1976 and in 1989 attained the rank of university as approved by the Hawaiʻi State Legislature. The University of Hawaiʻi-West Oʻahu currently shares a campus with affiliated Leeward Community College.
Until 1997 University of Hawaiʻi-West Oʻahu shared a chancellor with University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. That year then-UH President Kenneth Mortimer created a separate administration for the University of Hawaiʻi-West Oʻahu. The current chancellor is Dr. Gene I. Awakuni.
The University of Hawaiʻi-West Oʻahu is primarily a commuter school, serving residents of the western and central suburban communities of Honolulu.

Students of the University of Hawaiʻi-West Oʻahu study towards one or more of four degrees offered: Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (specializations in accounting and general business administration), Bachelor of Arts in Humanities (specializations in Hawaiian and Pacific studies, history, literature and philosophy), Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration (specializations in general public administration and justice administration), Bachelor of Arts in the Social Sciences (specializations in anthropology, economics, political science, psychology and sociology).
