University of Canterbury Students' Association
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The University of Canterbury Students' Association (UCSA) has been the elected representative body of the students of University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand since 1894. In the 1960s it founded the first student health center in the country (now part of the University rather than the UCSA, but physically in the UCSA building).
As with other students associations UCSA holds an annual Orientation at the start of each academic year. The musical entertainment provided during Orientation has included the The Bats, the Tall Dwarfs, The Clean, the Headless Chickens and a broad spectrum of other New Zealand alternative music.
Their on-going activities include:
- Canta, a student magazine, weekly during term
- RDU-FM, a student radio station in the b.net network.
- Temple Basin ski field (opeated though the Canterbury University Ski Club)
