[edit] Organization and Facilities
The School is divided into three divisions: the Lower, Middle, and Upper School. These divisions are equivalent to what would normally be considered elementary school, middle school, and high school in the United States. Each division or school has its own building. The Upper School is housed in the Sonken Building and the Middle School is housed in the Dauer Building.
[edit] Upper School
This facility is run by Peter Sanders and the dedicated faculty, known as the high school. The high school offers fundamental, basic, honors, and AP (advanced placements) level courses. There is also college counseling available, although mainly for the older students. Unlike most high schools, the University School has a wide selection of food. Sirloin Burger, Pizza, Cereal & Milk, Panini, soda and more are served daily(source http://uschool.nova.edu/upperschool/lunch.html). The athletic department, run by Donni Preston, includes Fall, Winter, and Spring sports. Fall includes Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Golf, JV Golf, Swimming/Diving, Girls Volleyball, and JV Girls Volleyball. Winter includes Boys Basketball, JV Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, JV Girls Basketball, Ice Hockey, Boys Soccer, and Girls Soccer. Spring sports include Baseball, Girls Lacrosse ,Rowing, Softball, JV Softball, Boys Tennis, Girls Tennis, Track, and Boys Volleyball. There is also a gamut of clubs to choose from. The high school offers a library, complete with access to Questia (an online book data base), a gymnasium, and beautiful scenery.
[edit] Middle School
Headed by Steven Blinder, this is the equivalent of a junior high. Technically advanced, this school has overhead projectors for every classroom. It also offers class levels of fundamentals, basic, accelerated, intermediate (pertaining to math), and honors. Sports and atheletics include Football, Girls Volleyball, Swimming/Diving, Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Softball Baseball, Tennis, Track, and Cheerleading. The junior high has a laudable selection of clubs but not as vast as that of the high school. Lunch time also does not offer as much as the high school, but has a considerable menu. (http://uschool.nova.edu/middleschool/lunch.html) The junior high offers a library equipped with computer as does the high school. Unlike the high school, the middle school offers an after school day care where kids can play computer games or get a head start on their homework(which would be a good idea!).
[edit] Lower School
Run by Dr. Brennan, this is the elementary school. Unlike the previously mentioned facilities, the lower school offers a daily morning show run by the children, with some faculty supervision. It also recites the daily National Anthem in the morning. It has a less comprehensive library, but more computer availability for all classes(mainly through donations). There are no different levels of classes except for students in need of a slower pace. Sports are more of an after school program within the elementary school campus.
[edit] Expansion
Nova Southeastern University as a whole has been undergoing a drastic new renovation. The idea behind this new project is to organize all of the grades and buildings into one centralized area. There are also numerous projects to enhance the U-School facilities. Some have been delayed far past expected dates, which has brought disappointment to the hopeful parents and contributors. The new pool to be located on campus was expected to be completed by now, but no action has yet been taken. The 'Campaign for a New University School' shows great promise, but many are doubtful that these dreams can be made real by 2009(estimated completion).
