University Pro-Independence Federation of Puerto Rico
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The University Pro-Independence Federation of Puerto Rico (commonly know by its Spanish acronym "FUPI": "Federación Universitaria Pro-Independencia", originally "Federacón de Universitarios Pro-Independencia") is an organization of students primarily studying at the University of Puerto Rico (UPR), dedicated to the goal of a free, independent Puerto Rico. Most of their views are based on personal opinions rather than an official political statement, although it is known that they are predominantly Socialist. Because of their sympathies with the protest of the U.S. naval activities in Vieques Island, some members of the organization have allegedly been involved in harassing and threatening U.S. Army and Air Force ROTC cadets.
