University Hospital of Wales

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

University Hospital of Wales (referred to locally as "the Heath"), opened in 1971, is situated on the outskirts of central Cardiff, Wales.

It is also the third largest University Hospital in the United Kingdom providing 24 hour Accident & Emergency and various other specialist departments.

It is the teaching hospital of Cardiff University School of Medicine.

The University Hospital Of Wales also has its own Radio Station, Radio Glamorgan, which broadcasts via Patientline on Channel 1. The station provides live music during the day and continuous music throughout the night to keep patients entertained.

Recently, a million pound project by base structures has been completed in which a specially designed walkway joins one part of the hospital to another.

Legend has it that Tom Jones worked on the dental hospital when he was a builder.
