University City High School (St. Louis)

University City High School is located in University City, Missouri, an eclectic suburb of St. Louis. As of 2006, 1,103 students were enrolled at the school.
Notable alumni include the playwright Tennessee Williams; major league baseball pitcher Ken Holtzman; major league baseball outfielder Art Shamsky; athlete Bernard Gilkey; Disney animator Marlon West; cellist Leslie Parnas; jazz musicians Jeremy Davenport, Todd Williams, and Peter Martin[1]; sculptor Saunders Schultz; and rapper Nelly.
The longtime U. City football coach Stub Muhl played with Red Grange on the great University of Illinois football team of 1924. Currently, the U. City High football team is led by Coach Duane Hawthorne, a former player for the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys .
