Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR) is Malaysia's first MSC-Status private university where education is delivered through the use of e-learning technology like the Internet, web-based or CD-based courseware and face-to-face academic meetings between lecturers and students. It is an ISO 9001:2000-certified private university in Malaysia. UNITAR combines face-to-face classes with the effective use of web-based courseware and online tutorials.
UNITAR started its operation on 18 December 1997 when it received the invitation letter to set up a university from the then Minister of Education, Najib Tun Razak (now Deputy Prime Minister). The minister launched the university on 21 December 1998 at Kelana Jaya Study Centre, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
UNITAR is wholly owned by KUB Malaysia Berhad, a bumiputra public-listed company on the Main Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE).
UNITAR currently offers 28 academic programs, 11 of which are accredited by the National Accreditation Council (LAN). All UNITAR programmes are approved by the Private Education Department. Academic programmes offered by UNITAR are Business Administration, Information Technology, Humanities and Social Science.
