Universidade Federal de Santa Maria

Universidade Federal de Santa Maria is a federal university located in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The University of Santa Maria was founded on December 14, 1960, by Professor José Mariano da Rocha Filho. The city of Santa Maria is approximately 290km from the capital city of the state, Porto Alegre.
Santa Maria is located in western Rio Grande do Sul. The city, set in the heart of the pampas of Brazil, thrives with gaúcho (pronouned as "gow-OO-show" in Portuguese) culture.
