Universidad del Pacifico is a university in Peru.

Universidad del Pacífico

Universidad del Pacífico is the leading Peruvian university for economics, business and accounting education. Established in 1962, its mission is to provide a comprehensive and multidisciplinary instruction to its students, so they can be highly educated, ethically strong professionals, who will be responsible and creative leaders in facing new situations and who will take the initiative in designing policies.

For undergraduate students, the university offers five-year programs in Economics, Business and Accounting. There are two post-graduate programs: Masters in Business Administration and Masters in Finance.

In 1972, the university established its own Research Center , with the goal of promoting research among its professors and students. Currently the Research Center is composed of 6 research areas, including the Economics of Regulation, which is in charge of the execution and monitoring of the LAURIN project. Purposes, Priorities, & Plans

Universidad del Pacífico's main goal as part of LAURIN is to organize non-degree executive courses aimed at the officials of the regulatory agencies, interested in either general or specific topics concerning regulation and financing of infrastructure. It will work with the other LAURIN institutions to fulfill that goal.

The methodology is based on case teaching. The UP team is preparing several cases, along with writing manuals or study guides to help in the understanding of the concepts that will be developed in the courses: one about the economics of infrastructure regulation, and the other one about key elements of infrastructure finance.

Executive training began in April 2002 with a course in transport, selected because of UP's research experience, an agreement between UP and OSITRAN (the regulatory agency in transport infrastructure), and the recommendation of some members of the advisory committee. Other courses will be devoted to other sectors or may be broader, taking into account the analysis of infrastructure from more than one sector. Advisory Committee
