The Metropolitan University (Universidad Metropolitana) was founded in 1970 by a group of entrepreneurs, led by Eugenio Mendoza Goiticoa. It is located in the city of Caracas. (Autopista Caracas - Guarenas, Urbanizacion Terrazas Del Avila, Distribuidor Metropolitano)

Today, the University has 5,000 students and approximately 500 professors. It's a business oriented University, Business Management being one of the most important courses offered. Their academic under-graduate courses include: Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Law, Education, Modern Idioms, Engineering (Chemical, Mechanic, Systems, Electrical, Civil & Production), Psychology and Liberal Arts (this is the first University in Venezuela to offer Liberal Arts).

Aside from the gardens themselves there are several works of art all over the campus. In the library and the Rectoral building there are art galleries as well as there are works of art constantly displayed and renewed inside and just outside the library. And there are some other older more important and permanent works of art in other places of the outdoor grounds.
