Universal atonement may refer to two subtly but significantly different concepts:

  • unlimited atonement, the Christian doctrine that Jesus died for the sake of all people, making salvation available for all; the doctrine is generally associated with Jacobus Arminius.
  • universal reconciliation, the Christian doctrine that everyone will eventually find salvation and reconciliation with God.
