Universal Building Society

Universal Building Society was a UK building society, which had its head office in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear, England. It was established in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1863.

In 2006, the Universal Building Society merged with the Newcastle Building Society[1]. At the time of the mereger, the Universal was the 29th largest building society in the UK with assets of £600m[2]. It had nine branches and employed approximately 130 staff.
