Uniting American Families Act

The Uniting American Families Act (or UAFA) is a US bill to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide a mechanism for United States citizens and lawful permanent residents to sponsor their permanent partners for residence in the United States, and for other purposes. The bill was originally known as the "Permanent Partners Immigration Act."
The UAFA was introduced June 21, 2005 by New York Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) as H.R. 3006. There are currently 115 Cosponsors of this bill in the United States House of Representatives.
The UAFA was introduced in the United States Senate on June 21, 2005 by Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) as S. 1278.
