United States presidential election, 2004, in California

In 2004, California confirmed its reputation as a blue state by voting for the Democratic challenger, Senator John F. Kerry by almost 10% over President Bush. Republicans have not taken California's electoral votes since George H.W. Bush's victory in 1988 against Michael Dukakis.
