United States House election, 1822
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The U.S. House election, 1822 was an election for the United States House of Representatives in 1822.
In the 1822 election, the Democratic-Republicans nearly elminated the Federalist Party, with this faction winning only a small number of New England districts. However, sectionalism, which would lead to the death of both parties, was already prevailing by this year. Northerners railled behind John Quincy Adams, Westerners behind Andrew Jackson, and Southerners behind William H. Crawford. Although it wasn't apparent, the Era of Good Feelings was coming to an end.
