United States Department of the Army

The Department of the Army is one of the three service departments in the United States Department of Defense. It is headed by the Secretary of the Army, a civilian, who is responsible for the administrative (non-operational) affairs of the U.S. Army.
The highest ranking military officer in the department is the Chief of Staff of the Army.
