United Provinces of the River Plate

The United Provinces of the River Plate, (Spanish: Provincias Unidas del Río de la Plata) also called United Provinces of South America (Spanish: Provincias Unidas de Sud América) was the official name of Argentina from 1816 to 1853, the year in which that name and the names República Argentina and Confederación Argentina would start being official, equivalent and valid names for the designation of the government and the territories of the provinces.
