United Nations Volunteers

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program is a United Nations agency that deploys international volunteers to directly support UN partners in the field. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has its headquarters in Bonn, Germany, and operates through UNDP country offices.
UNV was established by the UN General Assembly in 1970. It recruits volunteers from both developed and developing countries, though the majority (70%) are now from developing countries. UN Volunteers are frequently identified, interviewed, and briefed by a cooperating agency in their respective country.
Since 1971, UNV has sent over 30,000 volunteers to work on a wide range of projects in 140 developing countries.
