United Midwestern Promoters

United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) is a short track racing sanctioning body in the United States.

UMP was created in 1984 by Bob Memmer. The body sanctions dirt oval tracks throughout the United States and Canada.
[edit] Classes
UMP began by sanctioning UMP Late Model and UMP Modified cars. UMP Modified cars are quite similar in appearance to IMCA Modified cars.
UMP reorganized their class system in 2006 by sanctioning three additional classes. The revised class system included: UMP Super Late Models, UMP Modifieds, UMP Limited Modifieds, UMP Sportsman, and UMP Street Stocks.
UMP announced in early August 2006 that the sanctioning body will add two more classes: UMP Factory Stocks & UMP 4 Cylinders Pure Stocks. [1]

There are currently 87 UMP sanctioned tracks in 19 states and two tracks in Canadian provinces. [3]
[edit] Points System
UMP has a base points system for all its sanctioned tracks and is the same for each of its seven classes. [4]
If a track has 20 or less cars they will receive the base points, but for every car you have over 20 you will receive bonus points. The bonus points are 1 point extra for every car you have in that division over 20. So if you have 20 entries, then the winner gets 60 points, if you have 32 entries then the winner gets 60 + 12 bonus points for a total of 72 points. Every car in the feature that night will receive 12 extra points. Any car that does not make the feature will receive 10 points regardless of how many cars are there.
Replacement races are based on where you finish, not on how many cars there are. We will put a cap on points; the most points a feature winner can get will be 90 points.
Bounus Points= 1 point for every car in the pits over 20 in their division in the pits that night.
