United Blood Nation

The United Blood Nation (UBN) also known as the East Coast Bloods, is a large Bloods confederation that was originally formed in prison, in the 1990s by Leonard Mackenzie (Redeye), Omar Portee (O.G. Mack) and others for the purpose of the protection of African-American inmates from the more prevalent Hispanic gangs such as the Latin Kings and Neta.
UBN emulated the Bloods street gangs in Los Angeles, but it does not appear that the two groups are connected beyond a loose cultural affiliation. There were eight original sub sets of the UBN formed, they were the:
- Mad Stone Villains (MSV)
- Valentine Bloods (VB)
- Nine Trey Gangsta (NTG)
- Gangster Killer Bloods (GKB)
- One Eight Trey (183)Bloods
- Hit Squad Brims (HSB)
- Blood Stone Villains (BSV)
- Sex Money Murder (SMM)
Many sets originated in the West Coast have migrated to the East Coast, one being West Side M.O.B.B.(Matter of Blood Business) which is currently gaining popularity in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), New Jersey as well as other states like Florida. New Jersey is also notorious for having rejected gang members making multiple fake blood and crip sets and tricking people into joining and believing it's the real thing.
By the mid 1990s, thousands of members of Bloods street gangs were establishing themselves as a force among gangs and were continuing steady recruitment. Intelligence reports from 2005 estimate UBN membership at 5,000 in New York City and 7,000 nationwide.[1] Members are regarded as having a propensity for violence and have engaged in illicit drug distribution, homicide, robbery, extortion, and automobile theft.[2]
