Union des Francophones

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Union des Francophones is a Belgian francophone party. It's main political support comes from French speaking people living in the area around Brussels in the Flemish province of Flemish Brabant.

Ideologicaly, the party has a Francophone and nationalistic reflex. The party refuses to recognize the Flemish character and the Dutch speaking character of municipalities with linguistic facilities around Brussels. The party wants an enlargement of the Brussels Capital Region through the merger of various Flemish municipalities with linguistic facilities, like Sint-Genesius-Rode, to it and opposes the splitting of Brussels-Halle-Vilvoorde.

The party currently has one representative in the Flemish Parliament and six in the provincial council of Flemish Brabant.
