Union Township, one of thirteen townships in Clinton County, Ohio, United States, is located in the central part of the county and includes the city of Wilmington, the county seat. In 2000, the population was 14,929, up from 13,379 in 1990, and is most populous township in the county. Most of the population is in Wilmington, which had 11,921 inhabitants in 2000 and 11,119 in 1990. The entire township lies in the Virginia Military District.

The township is bordered on the south by Washington Township, on the southwest by Vernon Township, on the west by Adams and Chester Townships, on the north by Liberty Township, on the northeast by Wilson Township, on the east by Richland and Wayne Townships, and on the southeast by Green Township.

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.

Major roads include the 3C Highway (State Route 3 and U.S. Route 22), U.S. Route 68, and State Routes 73 and 134.

Clinton County Air Force Base, a base for Nike missiles, was turned into the Wilmington Airport, a hub for Airborne Express, now DHL, and is just east of Wilmington in the township.

Union is the third most popular township name in Ohio; only Washington (43 townships) and Jackson (35 townships) are more common.
