Unification Wars

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Unification Wars, or UC, is an online strategy game where the goal is to obtain planets and have the best empire. This can be accomplished by attacking other players to steal their planets or exploring for your own. The player must also build fleets of spaceships to defend from other players.

There are many activities the player can engage in, from digging for special artifacts, to mining for materials to build ships with or sell on the market to other players. The game has a turn-based system that prevents one player from shooting far above the rest in a short period of time just because they played for an extended amount of time. It is possible to play for free or pay for an account and get special privilages. It is the sister game of Galactic Conquest (GC).

[edit] Getting started

Unification Wars is a game with a fairly high learning curve, and as such several measures have been put in place to allow new players to get a feel for the game. This includes tutorial missions which are required to be completed by new players.

Also, an in game chat system and help center have been provided. This helps to get new players up to speed as quickly as possible, so that they can contribute to the overall community of the game.

[edit] Economy

The game has a unique economy, allowing ways for beginning players to get started relatively easily, while still allowing more involved methods of game play for experienced players. The three basic ways of getting credits are through business, taxes, or by selling resources on the in-game market. In fact, there are some players who make the majority of their credits by watching the market for good prices, buying up the resources, and then reselling them when the prices rise.

[edit] Military

One of the main portions of the game is the military portion. It is set up in such a way that your empire is in interaction with other empires at all times, whether or not you are currently logged in to the server. As such, a system has been put into place so that after receiving a certain amount of damage, your empire is immune to attack for a set period of time.

There also are organizations called federations, set up in such a way so that if you choose to, you can help out your fellow federation members by sending ships to assist in the defense of their empire.

[edit] Game elements, or resources

  • Planets - This is the most valuable resource in the game, and it can't be bought for money. Planets can be obtained through exploration, attacking other players, or with special projects. Planets can be assigned to some economic activity.
  • Ships - Used for attacking and defending. Requires money. Some ships require specific minerals as well. Research is required to enable building of most ship types.
  • Credits - Used to build ships, assign planets, or to buy resources from the market.
  • Minerals - Required to build most ships. Mined from systems. Can be bought and sold on the market.
  • Food - Produced in planets dedicated to agriculture. Can be bought and sold on the market.
