Just add the following:

{{Image label|x=0.***|y=0.***|scale={{{size|400}}}|text=[[State name]]}}

and then, through trial and error, try to find out the coordinates of the state. If you increase x, it will go right, if you increase y, it will go down (the text, i mean :))

Perhaps the 2 letter state abbreviations will work better. Then the smaller staes have a chance of inclusion - and the map would then serve as a source of the proper abbreviations too -- 6 pt might also be needed to fit all 50 on the map --JimWae 21:38, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

You can just fit them all in with their full name if you try hard enough. Wish there was an easier method (like using SVG-wiki?), but you can treat it as a game using the Show Preview button. -- Zondor 22:26, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Well, we've almost got all of them. Just a few of those little squiggly states that sit all on top of each other in the North East. Do we really need them anyway? Seriosly, why didn't we / don't we use a bigger map for this? Johntex\^talk 00:29, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Initially scaled to be small as possible as a standard minimum size so that it is suitable for various types of pages. New idea: use "." characters to represent cities. For example, a dot is a wiki link to Los Angeles article. -- Zondor 00:36, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

I'd suggest using "■" to represent cities instead, since periods are hard to see when the text is that small, and it took me forever to get my mouse over the link! --Schzmo 19:17, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi. Has anyone tried doing something similar to this with .map extensions?
